There are a lot of common terms that we use that are related to cleaning such as wiping, brushing, dusting, and vacuuming. We also have uncommon terms that are quite unfamiliar to the average person. Some professional cleaning services use these terms to further broaden the scope of the things that they are capable of doing and provide a more satisfactory cleaning service. Here are some cleaning terms  that you need to know to upgrade your cleaning capacity and knowledge


Decontamination

  • This is the process of extracting or removing organic matter and microorganisms using hypochlorite solution from things that we use such as countertops, doorknobs, faucet, toilet handles, light switches, remotes, and toys.


Dwell Time

  • It is the total time of letting a cleaning product like detergents and sanitizers to stay so that the germs are effectively removed thus maximizing the effectiveness of the cleaning products. This can range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes depending on how dirty a surface or object is as well the type of product being used.


Sanitizing

  • It is the process of sanitizing or reducing the number of germs using a sanitizing solution and is usually sprayed on bathroom floors. This is the least effective method to fully remove germs but is still effective to bring down the number of germs to safe levels.


Disinfection

  • This is the second most effective method of reducing or removing germs by spraying disinfectants such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and formaldehyde to objects or surfaces and is frequently used in Hospitals and dental.


Sterilizing 

  • Is the strongest type of decontamination by which it uses high heat, chemicals, and plasma gas to fully exterminate all types of germs or microbial life that may cause diseases. This is widely used on almost all critical medical devices


Deep cleaning

  • A type of cleaning that goes further in removing dirt, dust, grime, soap scum, and many more. This is a way more rigorous type of cleaning as it cleans almost all surfaces and objects of the whole house that we do not usually clean such as areas behind appliances like refrigerator, oven or washing machine,  A/C vents, countertops & Sinks, baseboards, fireplace, and many more
